Holiday customer returns

Files under Closeout Education | Posted by admin

We are well within throwing distance of this years Christmas. Everyone scampering around for that last minute gift for that unexpected family member coming by Christmas Eve. With the rush to buy consumers are not putting much thought into gift giving. This translates to an enormous rash of post season returns. This can be a literal goldmine for customer return buyers! Retail giants plan on a percentage of returns each year as they are inevitable. From apparel to electronics gifts are returned in an almost mechanical fashion.

This is the time when liquidation buyers can really profit as a lot of merchandise to be had will be basically “Open Box” with very little in damages.

There is one concern when buying customer return merchandise at this time of year and really for the next 60 days as well….Be ready for holiday merchandise, ie decorations, holiday merchandise and the like. From experience I have personally purchased loads of customer returns that were filled with lights, Xmas tree bulbs and holiday domestics. Most if not all of the merchandise is actually considered “Shelf Pulls” meaning unsold and excess. So bottom line….be prepared when buying customer returns as you might find holiday merchandise. This can be a good thing if you can warehouse/store this merchandise until Christmas 2008. Make sure to ask the liquidator or source how much holiday merchandise to expect when buying pallets!
